Let me tell you one thing about the trucking industry. It’s COMPLETELY COMPLEX. Honestly, I’m still learning about it. Instead of it’s a must, I found interest in this trucking industry. Not only attended several webinars about Indonesia’s Logistics or the trucking industry, but I also read every articles to learn about this business

I’m not gonna tell you the whole process about trucking/shipment. Cause it takes hours to explain it. What I’m trying to say is the way to learn new things, new knowledge, a new business model from my point of view. It’s an urgent matter for any type of job/role.

So, why does it become urgent? On the first day of duty, I knew nothing about types of trucks. I don’t even know that Wingbox does exist in this world. On the other hand, I should create content about it. How could I?

What I did was adapt faster than the blackbird. Let me share with you how I take baby steps on this “whole new world.”

Trustworthy Journal

READ! Call me a nerd, but I’m still doing it whenever I wanna learn new things. Although it sounds boring, it helps me get the knowledge I want with each relevant context. I’m not trying to pursue you to read journals as I do. However, It helps me compile content based on comparing or even combining trustworthy sources, and in my opinion it’s a privilege from reading journal articles. Maybe you can consider finding trustworthy articles about the knowledge that you desire.

Or do you have any idea how to learn new things without reading journal?

Curiosity = Significant Adaptivity

Curiosity kills me sometimes, especially in relationships. Thank god, it doesn’t kill me in my job. How do I “feed” my curiosity? First, I ask every question that comes up when I am reading journals to my co-workers. It’s something like, “Is it still relevant to apply this kind of thing nowadays? How does it work in Indonesia’s trucking industry? Do we (company) apply it? Are you still single (kidding)?” and many more.

Second, seek every kind of information, from every channel, that is still affiliated with my company’s industry. I do it cause I can get extra information to compile content into close proximity to their needs. For this purpose, I must “feed” my curiosity like “What kind of discussion do they like? What kind of topics? What social media platform does users use most often, i.e. what is the best platform to connect with them?” and many more. I need to find all the answers; I don’t wanna be killed by my curiosity just like it happened in my relationship.

Nurture Intimacy

Thankfully, the ON-TRUCKS team feels like a family, friends, co-workers, all at once. So, it doesn’t take much time to build and nurture intimacy with them. What’s the point of nurturing intimacy? I was a newborn baby in this trucking industry, especially in my company. I still need to grow and need to keep up my work. Moreover, I gotta learn this “whole new world” quickly before I sell the product.

That’s my 3 points about the adapting process to a new working environment. After all, fastly adapting will help you grow and obviously reach your goals.

Kindly share with me how’d you adapt to this kind of situation. It will be helpful to me and others newcomers.
